All has been quiet on the submission response front for the last few days. There are a few anthologies that I subbed to that have me wondering if the project is still alive and kicking. They, as well as a few other editors, have me once again abusing my Check Mail button. Poor Yahoo.
On the waiting line:
“King Pumpkin” which was subbed to the Harvest Hill anthology over at Graveside Tales. I tried to make it unsettling rather than scary, as well as fitting it into the mythos the editors were trying to create.
“An Untold History of Cats” which was subbed to the Things Aren’t What They Seem anthology at From the Asylum. It’s one of those cases where they posted on their site that the responses would be sent out by a certain date. That date is almost a month late. I’m not complaining at all, though. From what I understand, the guys over there stay busy and, as I have said before, I’d much rather an editor take their time rather than throw something together just to meet a deadline.
“After Passing” which was subbed to the Ghosts In the Machine anthology. The deadline came and went about a month ago, so now I’m just playing the waiting game. I’m particularly exciited about this one because it is one of the very few things that I have written that genuinely scared the hell out of me while I was writing it.
Oh, and some news on Blood Routes: If all goes well, it looks as if I’ll be starting it sometime within the next few days. I’ll post here to let you all know.
Now let me see if I can finally get something brewing for the Malpractice anthology…
